The Sylvan Lake Minor Football Association (SLMFA) has been contacted to provide comment on a matter involving the HJ Cody Lakers high school program. Though the Lakers fall under the Chinook’s Edge School Division, we value our long-standing relationship with them as part of our SLMFA football family. In light of these inquiries, our volunteer board has agreed to share the following statement:

At SLMFA our top priority is to provide a safe, positive and inclusive environment for every athlete who joins our program. For over 25 years we have welcomed players from all backgrounds and have worked hard to ensure our fields are free from bullying, harassment and discrimination. Our commitment is simple: Football in Sylvan Lake is a place for kids to grow, learn teamwork and have fun. Every decision we make as an organization is guided by what is best for our athletes. We continue to uphold our belief that SLMFA is a place where all are welcome and will ensure our program remains a space where the only focus is on the game we all love.
