The 2026 SLMFA AGM was held on April 29. While the official minutes won’t be ratified until our 2027 AGM, there are a few highlights we can share.
Items of Note: Financial reports were reviewed and accepted by the 2025/2026 Board of Directors prior to dissolution, as per SLMFA bylaws. Updates from each team were provided, with all minor teams showing strong spring camp registration numbers and optimistic improvement from the HJ Cody Lakers camp as well.
Administrative items such as board insurance and the establishment of a formal incident/disciplinary committee were also presented, along with other board policies regarding sponsorship fund distribution and universal player and parent code of conduct terms.
Operational budget items such as field maintenance will be addressed at the first general meeting, scheduled for mid-May.
Retiring Board Members: 2026 continues the evolution of Sylvan Lake Minor Football with the departure of long-time board members Victor Svoboda and Michael Williams, along with Secretary Abby Sarkozi and Director Dave Symons.
On behalf of all the coaches, officials, volunteers and families over the years we’d like to express our gratitude for your service.
2026/2027 Board: 2025 marked the beginning of the transition to new leadership taking over stewardship of our organization, with the majority of board members standing for another year. U16 Bantam Lions Head Coach Geoff Rambaut moves into his second year as President, along with Treasurer Chrystal Scanland. 2025/2026 Vice-President Nathan Geib returns for another year, along with Directors Eryn Geddes, John Flinn, Heather Kowalchuk and Jamieson Blinkhorn.
New Directors: We’re excited to welcome a number of new faces to the Board this year, many of whom are familiar to parents and players alike. Team manager volunteers Jazmyn Moses and Anita Symons bring their on-the-ground experience to assist the board, along with long-time Tigers assistant coach Chris Hall. Last, and certainly not least, we are proud to have former SLMFA player and current Lions assistant coach Conner Langford join our board as well. It’s a wonderful testament to our program when we see those who participated as young athletes come full circle and return to support the next generation of Sylvan Lake football players.
We’re excited to have so many enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers willing to spend their time with Sylvan Lake Minor Football.
